HNB Garhwal Centre for Mountain Tourism and Hospitality Studies (CMTHS), Srinagar Claimed

In order to foster creative thinking, develop skills and personality as well as to instill a desire for lifelong learning among students, Department of Centre for Mountain Tourism and Hospitality Studies (CMTHS), earlier known as the “Department of Tourism” started to function way back in the year 1976 wherein a Post Graduate Diploma in Tourism and Pilgrimage Studies was started. Later, the name of the department was rechristened as Centre for Mountain Tourism and Hospitality Studies (CMTHS) on September 27, 2001. The centre is maintained as an academic department by H.N.B. Garhwal Central University, under School of Management. Since its inception, the centre has worked ceaselessly in the area and offers industry-oriented courses in the field of Tourism and Hotel Management with due stress on practical knowledge. Ongoing course structures are updated from time to time and new modules are introduced at a regular interval in consultation with industry professionals so that much weightage could be given as per the requirement of the industry. Besides teaching and research work it is the endeavour of the faculty members to disseminate knowledge and share information to the students through various seminars, conferences, workshops, research papers, journals and publications so that trained human resources could be prepared to lead the highly competitive global industry.
