Government Degree College Ganai Gangoli is situated in the tehsil headquarter of Ganai Gangoli. The hinterland of this college is situated in Gangawali region constituted between two main rivers vis a vis Sarju. This college is nearly 110 km away from Pithoragarh headquarter and nearly 80 km from Almora District headquarter. The college has been established in a rural area and surrounded by approx 40 villages. There are 8 inter colleges around it in its vast catchment area and this is the only higher educational institution for them in this area, especially for girl student. Presently this college is an arts college providing undergraduate education in BA semester system with subjects offered Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Economics, Political Science ,Sociology,History,Geography and Home Science as per rules prescribed by Soban Sinh Jeena University, Almora. The college follows the academic programmes, syllabi and academic calendar of its affiliating University. The administrative and financial control of the college is vested with Higher Education Department, Government of Uttarakhand, Dehradun and Directorate of higher education of Uttarakhand, Haldwani (Nainital) .
This college begun its journey with only 25 students in 2014-15 , and Our student enrollment has been reached to 273 in 2018-19 from 244 in 2017-18 and 182 in 2016-17. The college is presently being run in the campus of GIC Ganai Gangoli and has sufficient inbuilt space(03 class rooms, 01 common room, o1 conference hall , 01 library cum reading room ) to conduct the classes and curricular activities. However, the 0.8 hectares land is already transferred to the college and the sanction of construction of building is awaited from the government of Uttarakhand.
